The Red Rooster is not the only restaurant in Harlem. Although, we have to concede that the Red Rooster is “THE” most famous restaurant in Harlem. Any guidebooks will tell you. True, the restaurant deserves it : it’s a great place, especially for lunch, but you will not be the only tourist there.
Barawine on Lenox Avenue (Malcom X Boulevard) is our pick. Good wine, very fresh food (” farm to table” concept). A French owner, it must be said.
And if it is winter and it is -15 °, you will enjoy the best raclette in NYC.

Maison Harlem , is also one of our favorite. A very friendly bistro if you have an urge for “moules frites”. (Molds with French fries)
